Ambitious
goal and fruitful cooperation
BRICS is a
name that may at first glance raise puzzling questions about the meaning of the
word but the blur of the word soon becomes clear when we realize that it is a
name derived from the initial letters of the five founding countries of a new
economic group at the time namely (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) ,
The
idea and history of the establishment of BRICS
BRICS is an
emerging economic group whose idea dates to 2001 when China, Russia and India
formed a group called the “Trilateral Group” to promote trilateral
cooperation in the economic and political fields. In 2006, Brazil decided to
join this group to become the “Quartet”. Actual establishment
arrangements for the group began under the name (BRIC).
The
group held its first leaders’ summit in 2009 with four countries only a year
later the group invited South Africa and added a new letter S
– BRICS to
become an emerging economic group consisting of five countries representing
(three continents) under the name of BRICS as it is today

Group Objectives
It is no
secret to anyone interested that one of the basics of forming this group is the
aim of strengthening economic and political cooperation between these emerging
countries and enhancing their role in international affairs.
by
increasing the volume of trade and promoting joint investments;
The Group
also seeks to strengthen cultural and educational ties among Member States and
promote cultural exchange among them;
The goals of
the group are not limited to these goals only, but the ceiling of their
ambitions does not drink his necks to reach him, every day hopes expand and
ambitions increase, especially after the increase in the number of its members
to more than (10 countries) in which Arab countries with weight such as Egypt,
the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which is a positive compass in achieving more
ambitions in the future BRICS agendas, so promoting global economic justice and
achieving sustainable development is one of its top priorities, and even member
states seek to enhance their role in the system and expand their representation
in international organizations .
Undeclared
legitimate goals of BRICS
While some
observers consider that there are undeclared goals for the group, even if they
are legitimate goals globally, they point out that it also aims to be an arena
for coordinating (political positions) of its members in international forums
and organizations.
Observers go
on to describe the goal of the farthest application, at least for the time
being, as they say, is to find a new currency added to the basket of global
currencies under the name (BRICS currency) to compete with the dollar as the
first dominant on the global economy.
The group is
working to shape a multipolar international political-economic system and break
the hegemony of the West, led by the United States of America.
Because the
economic aspect in several axes forms the backbone of the countries of the
group, the members proceeded to develop their unified economic plans, reaching
an economic power capable of confronting the current Western power. Through
close economic and trade cooperation among the BRICS members, which has already
made promising strides in the fields of import and export among the member countries.
